Fittingly the music on this Remembrance Sunday began with silence whilst the servers and Celebrants processed to the alter. Father Stephen then sang the Introit :-Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Te decet hymnus Deus, in Sion, et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem. Exaudi orationem meam; ad te omnis caro veniet. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
(“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. A hymn becometh thee, O God, in Zion, and unto thee a vow shall be repaid in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer; unto thee all flesh shall come. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.”)
Because of the solemnity of the occasion, most of the music today was traditional and organ based but the Taize chants were performed with clarinet, whistle, recorder and guitar.
